Sawyer's 1st Mizzou Game

First Family Photo in Columbia

Besides the trip when he was living in my belly, last weekend was Sawyer first trip to Columbia to see his parents Alma Mater. It was the Mizzou vs. Ole Miss Basketball game, we were lucky enough to get tickets from John's grandparents. The Tarwater's joined us for Pierce and Paisley's first Mizzou game as well and arrange for a place to stay with some of their good friends. Mizzou beat Ole Miss 98 to 78. The kids did great at the game and we can't wait to plan another trip! I took a ton of pictures, surprise surprise, so here are a few.

Can we go yet???

Super Bowl XLVII

This year’s super bowl (Ravens vs. 49ers) was completely different for John and me.  The Johnson’s invited us and some friends over for the game last Sunday and I maybe got to watch 1 commercial and like 5 minutes of the game. Why you ask? Having a toddler to chase around inhibits your ability to sit still for longer than 1 minute. I actually got to watch the majority of Beyonce/Destiny’s Child’s half time show since there were balloons to keep him busy and he loved dancing to it. We got a couple videos of Kingston breaking it down too, hilarious.

Watch me take off after him when he goes for the electrical outlet, holy moly!

Kingston is here, YAY!!!!
Each boy gets his own balloon

John made a really yummy Turkey Chili Mac for the occasion. Here is the recipe; unless you want to eat it for the next 3 weeks I do not recommend doubling the recipe like we did. It’s delicious but anything gets old after that long!

Turkey Chili Mac

INGREDIENTS:
1 lb ground turkey
1 small onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, pressed
1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (14 -15 ounce) can tomato sauce
4 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
3 -4 cups cooked macaroni
2 cups cheddar cheese

STEPS:
1. Brown turkey. When it is about half done press garlic into pan and add onion.
2. Cook till ground turkey is done onions should be clear drain extra liquid.
3. While cooking ground turkey cook macaroni according to box. Drain macaroni.
4. Add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, Stir.
5. Add chili powder and cumin, Stir.
6. Add macaroni, Stir.
7. Add half of the cheese and stir
7. Serve and top with the remaining cheddar cheese.

Eyes in Disguise

Tim & Megan Johnson were kind enough to invite John and myself to Eyes in Disguise benefiting the Kitchen (http://www.thekitcheninc.org/) this past weekend at the Diamond Room. A place very near to our hearts since it was where we had our wedding reception. The party was a Mardi Gras Theme with traditional cajun cuisine and featured Members Only. We had such a fun time, especially with the abundance of awesome masks and John getting to show off his awesome dance moves. Thanks to Donnetta for staying with Sawyer, we love you!!

SUC training: Week 3

Week 2 went really well, yesterday was probably the first day I just didn't feel motivated to go to the gym because we went out Saturday night.  BUT I still went, sore legs and all and ran. I felt really great afterwards.

My cross training this week was body combat & zumba. It was my first time doing zumba (well I did it once like 6 years ago but it was really different) and it was really fun. I sweated alot and could tell it was working some new areas. I didn't feel like I worked AS hard as I usually do so next time I will probably run afterwards.

Week 3 Plan:
Sunday: Interval running for 35 minutes
Monday: Interval running for 35 minutes, abs, push ups and lunges
Tuesday: Off Day
Wednesday: Cross Training (TBD)
Thursday: Interval running for 35 minutes. Weights & abs
Friday: Cross Training (TBD)
Saturday: Off day, heading to Mizzou for the Ole Miss basketball game!

Springfield Urban Warrior Challenge's Facebook page is great because they post workouts and motivational images. I really liked these posts this week and wanted to share....

As a new mom this is a MUST!

I am hoping this is how I feel after our Race

Friday Sawyer Videos

Here are a couple new Sawyer videos I wanted to share as a weekend kickoff.
Yes, we will probably regret showing Sawyer how to feed our dog but it just cracked him up so much we couldn't help it. He also recently learned how to climb my parent's stairs and he is super fast!
