Scout // 8 Months

For the last 7 months, I was actually able to do a post the day Scout had his monthly birthday until  this month...I am 4 days late. I will give myself credit for making it that long.

I think this month had the biggest amount of milestones. He is officially mobile and loving every minute! His brother, not so much! I actually saw Sawyer pulling Scout by the leg the other day prying him off one of his toys.

Here is Sawyer at 8 months. Big differences are that Sawyer had teeth, was attempting to walk, and was saying Mama. Also Scout has now past Sawyer in size, Sawyer was only wearing 6-9 month still:  Sawyer 8 Months

Scout 8 Month stats

weight: 18 lbs 6 oz.  at 7 months he was 17 lbs 8 oz.

height:  27.5 at 7 months he was 27 inches

clothing: 9-12 months. And just 12 month tops. Wears size 2 and 3 shoes.

diapers: Size 3 - same as last month

eating: He is eating a lot more table food and baby foods. he has even tried cut up avocado and bananas, pancakes, animal  crackers, vanilla wafers, and ritz crackers. He is on the same schedule as last month but eating a lot more food and not waking up to nurse in the night.

sleeping: He is doing great at night (knock on wood). He nurses about 7 p.m., and I wake him up to nurse about 6 a.m. The past 2 weeks, he hasn't woken up once in the middle of the night to eat, maybe only a couple times briefly waking up and then falling back to sleep once we give him his pacifier. I really hope it isn't a phase.

teething: Still nothing but has learned to chew food anyway. It still appears something is trying to pop out because of the way he chews and drools.

other updates: He is officially crawling and pulling up on things. He first crawled a week after his 7 month birthday and then about 1 week later he crawled up the stairs at our house, and then a week after that he was pulling up and standing in his crib and all over our house. His school even sent me a video (below) of him completely crawling up the stairs to the slide at school. He proceeding to try to go down the slide too. This boy needs to slow down. Other developments include moving his hands to do the actions with Itsy Bitsy Spider, still only saying Dada and Hi, waving and clapping. He also is trying to do the sign language for "more" when we eat. He also has officially sat at the "big kid" table at school, I am so proud.

Here are a few more photos/video from the month:

Scout // 5 Months

5 months already? Where has the time gone? Scout is growing like a weed and is almost double his birth weight! We are also starting to notice he is looking less and less like Sawyer!

Here is how Sawyer stacked up when he was five months. Very close again, especially with eating and sleeping. Scout has him a little on weight but boy was Sawyer more mobile at this point. Not that Scout isn't but not as crazy as Mr. Sawyer!

Scout 5 Month stats

weight: 16 lbs. 7 oz.  - at 3 months he was 15 lbs. 2 oz.

height: 26 inches- at 3 months he was 25 1/4 inches

clothing: 6 and 6-9 months, some 9 months fit him too.

diapers: up to Size 3

eating: Going longer now 4 to 4.5 hours during the day. We have introduced more solids so I think it is keeping with him longer. He has tried rice cereal, oatmeal, carrots, sweet potatoes and peas. He has loved them all too! At school he takes one 6 oz. bottle in the morning after his cereal, eats veggies at lunch and I nurse him around 2 pm.

sleeping: Still sleeping at great at night. He goes about 5 hours in between feedings and a few times went 6-8 hours. He is starting to do better with sleeping at school too.

teething: A little tooth has made an appearance, it hasn't completely broken through but the top of it is through the gum.
Tiny little tooth!

other updates: He is sitting up great supported and has almost complete neck control now. He will lunge forward towards the spoon when we are feeding him. He loves tummy time and sitting in his bumbo. He like to converse with anyone around him. One of his favorite things to do while on the floor is play with his toes.

Scout // 4 Months

Scout had his 4-month checkup today and we got to see how much he has grown, unfortunately he had to get some shots. We did get the ok to start cereal and some foods. He has definitely made some big changes over the month as far as his strength and movements. He is more active and vocal. We are starting to really see his personality. As you can tell by the photos I post, he is so happy and playful. I can already tell he is going to be quite the social little guy. After reading what Sawyer was doing at this age, we decide to bring out the Jolly Jumper and he loved it! We also plan to let him try out the walker this week too.

Here is how Sawyer stacked up when he was four months. Once again they are super close, even the exact same weight!

Scout 4 Month stats

weight: 15 lbs. 2 oz. (41 percentile) - at 3 months he was 14 lbs. 6 oz.

height: 25 1/4 inches (52 percentile) - at 3 months he was 25 inches

clothing: 3-6 and 6 months. 3 months is really too small. Wearing 6-12 month socks

diapers: still Size 2

eating: Same as last month.....breast milk, eating every 3-5 hours depending on how active he is. Earring longer each time for 15-18 minutes. We think he might be ready for some cereal/oatmeal because he isn't sleeping as long at night now. He seems to be hungry every 4-5 hours at night too when it used to be more like 6-8.

sleeping: He is great at sleeping at night, will eat and go right to bed but not sleeping as long as he used to, 4-5 hour stretches. Sleeping better at school now though, has even taken a 3-hour nap there.

teething: No sign of teeth yet but he is drooling like crazy and constantly chews on his WHOLE hand, yes the whole thing fits in his little mouth.

other updates: Holding his head up on his own and even acting like he wants to crawl. He talks a ton, constantly cooing and babbling like he is trying to converse with us. He reminds me of Sawyer, always moving his arms and legs, especially to music or when he is excited.

Scout // 2 Months

Scout is 2 months! We are loving every moment with our little guy and adjusting nicely to having two kiddos. We went for his 2-month check up today with his doctor and he looks great. He had to get 4 immunizations (1 oral), he handled it well but it was so sad. He starts school in 3 weeks, which of course means I go back to work in 3 weeks. It is flying by and I know it is going to be much harder this round to go back. I absolutely love my job but being my last child/last maternity leave, I am savoring every moment with him. Say some prayers for me...tears will be shed I am sure.

Here is how Sawyer stacked up when he was two months old, Scout is bigger in all areas except his head, ha!:
http://www.hamratime.com/2012/04/sawyer-2-month-checkup.html

Scout 2 Month stats

weight: 13 lbs. 1 oz.  - 68 percentile (at 1 month he was 11 lbs.)

height: 23 1/4 inches - 61 percentile (at 1 month he was 22 inches)

clothing: all 3 month and 3-6 month. His 0-3 month socks are too small on his big feet

diapers: moved him yesterday to Size 2

eating: breast milk, eating every 3-5 hours depending on how active he is. He feeds for about 10-15 minutes. He went the longest between feedings this weekend at 8.5 hours. Last night he went 7 hours.

sleeping: averages 4-5 hours at night. Sleeping less during the day but still sleeps about 50% of the time. Last weekend he slept the longest he has yet about 7 hours.

other updates: In true Hamra boy fashion we have a talker and a mover. He loves to chat and even sounds like he can say "hi". Trying really hard to rollover but hasn't mastered it quite yet. Not really a fan of the nap nanny any more but really likes his vibrating bouncy seat and still loving the Baby Bjorn. I just ordered a Ergo Baby carrier to try because the Bjorn has been hurting my lower back, can't wait to try it out.

Scout // Newborn Photos

J Design Studios did it again! They were able to capture some super sweet photos of Scout, just like they did for Sawyer. (see Sawyer's photos here: https://karitravels.shutterfly.com/2326)

It was so hard for me to design his birth announcement because they were all so cute but here are a few of my favorites.

Scout // Week two

Just as every mom says, time sure does fly by. I can't believe we have had two weeks with our little man Scout. He is doing great and we are enjoying every day. He had his second week check-up yesterday which was my actual due date. His doctor was very happy with how well he is doing! I swear is the most smiley baby I have ever met. We love his little dimple! Sawyer is still doing great and is really a great helper. So far, we haven't seen any regression or acting out since becoming a big brother!
Woohoo, no shots today!

Scout two week stats

weight: 8 lbs. 10 oz. (at birth he was 8 lbs. 7 oz.) - 52 percentile
length: 21.25 inches (at birth he was 21 inches) - 83 percentile
head circumference: 14.57 inches (at birth he was 14 inches) - 83 percentile
clothing: newborn
eating: breast milk, eating every 3-4 hours
sleeping: about 20 hours a day
other updates:  His jaundice is almost gone, she said it is about at his bicep and up (it moves from feet to head) and still shows in his eyes but that could last for up to 4 weeks. His umbilical cord finally fell off so we can give him a normal bath now! Also since he is eating and having regular diapers, they said we can let him sleep longer. Most night he wants to sleep through the every 3 hour feeding rule, she said we can now even let him go up to 6 hours once per night. Yay!! We are strictly breast feeding again like I did with Sawyer, and I definitely have a huge supply! I have frozen probably around 25 bags...which is great for when I return back to work.
