Rico comes home

Back in 2003,  John bought a little chihuahua puppy named Rico to keep with him at Mizzou. Rico lived with John and his roommate Bogie until we left Columbia in 2005. John brought him back to Springfield with him but when he moved into an apartment was forced to give Rico to his mom who lives in Arkansas. His mom, stepdad Derek and step grandma Deanna all became so attached John decided to leave him in their loving care and find a new dog....enter Bowie. Last week we learned John's stepdad had to have surgery due to a cancerous mass on his hip and we were more than happy to take in our good buddy Rico, now 8 years old. We aren't sure how long we will have him but we are sure enjoying every minute. Bowie and Faith love him too! And on another note, Derrick is doing great after his surgery.

These dogs never sit still, best pic I could get of all of them

Kitchen Experiments: Faith's Birthday Treats

First off Happy Birthday to the sweetest most amazing dog a girl could ask for!! Faith, our pug,  is 11 years old today, so in honor of her birthday I am doing a recipe for home-made dog treats from Sweet Paul Magazine.  She is just like her momma and is obsessed with anything that involves peanut butter

Peanut Snack Sandwiches

INGREDIENTS
2 Tablespoons Canola Oil
1/2 cup Peanut Butter (all natural or organic) - I prefer Smuckers Natural Creamy
1 cup water
1 1/2 cup White Flour
1 1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flower
crushed Peanuts

STEPS
1. In a large bowl or mixer combine Oil, Peanut Butter and Water

2. Add both types of flour to mix and work dough together

3. wrap mixed dough in plastic wrap and place in the regrigerator for at least 30 minutes

4. Knead dough into a firm ball and roll into 1/4 thickness

5. Preheat Oven to 350

6. Use a cookie cutter or small glass ( I used a shot glass) and cut out small circles

7. Place cut out circles on cookie sheet (can cover in parchment if you prefer)

8. Put a handful of peanuts in a food processor and grind to a fine consistency

9. sprinkly peanuts over circles, press softly into dough

10. bake for 10-12 minutes

11. Cool on wire rack

12. Store in an container with a tight lid.

13. When you are ready to serve them to your pup put some peanut butter in between two cookies and serve, believe it won't last long

Bowie waiting patiently...of course the Birthday girl will share

At last, taste test!!!

*The best part you can try them too, I sure did :)

I melt

There is just something about our two furry kiddos that makes my heart melt.  Everytime I see them snuggled up together i can't help but capture the moment.

Water Fight

The temps are crazy hot right now and in an attempt to cool our big black pooch off, we brought out the hose and pool. Who knew Bowie would love it so much. Here are some videos from our fun afternoon.

Bowie's Vocal side

Bowie is usually a pretty quiet pup, something got him wound up at lunch the other day and he was just not shutting up. In person it is so very loud, would scare off even the brawniest of burglars.

Here is a pic of his usual demeanor (very kindly sharing his bed with his sister Faith)

Meeting the new additions

John and I had a lovely evening last night with the Joe & Nicole Fuller. Had some pizza and their very own Rocco Brew beer, delicious! The highlight of the evening was getting to meet the new addition Rocco Rinde, he is just preceious. Ruby (our one-of-a-kind flower girl) also kept us entertained as always. We love you guys!

Saturday we also go to meet the Leeka's new addition Maddie, a 2 year old great dane. Bowie and her were like peas in a pod running around the back yard like crazy. I think Bowie found himself a new girlfriend.

Bowie The Great Moves in

Bowie officially moved in all 170 pounds of him. Him and Faith and best buds and get along way better than we anticipated. They have politely exchanged toys; bowie has already devoured her elephant squeaky toy and faith hoards his giant bones. They are a match made in heaven
