The Sweetest Sound

Today was our 13 week checkup and we finally got to hear Hamlet's little heartbeat! We got to see the little heart back at our 9 week appointment but hearing it was one of the most special moments John and I have shared. Doctor said baby is healthy with a 150 bpm heartbeat and she said I am right on track too.
We go back in 4 weeks and she will then book our gender ultrasound for the following week to 2 weeks. Which means we will know if Hamlet is a boy or girl around the beginning of Oct. John is so antsy!

We got to record a small portion ofthe heartbeat before the machine freaked out because of John's cell phone. Enjoy!

The Knot

After our wedding my friend Anne, who works for the Knot, contacted me about giving a quote for their Missouri/Kansas edition. I happily obliged and just this week she sent me the published magazine along with some other awesome books, Eco-Chic Home and Modern Hospitality. Both books I would have picked up myself; One is an Eco friendly DIY guide and the other is a Cookbook full of simple southern recipes. Thanks for the package Anne, we love it!

A new ride

John got himself a new toy thanks to his dad. A nice red 1986 Chevy Truck. Thanks Pops!

Cuz'n it up: Springfield Style

We finally found a weekend where my cousin's Meghan and Erin could come stay and play in Springfield. Erin will be leaving Sept. 16 for Scotland to go to grad school and we didn't want to let her leave without a proper send-off. We did family dinner friday at Old Chicago and saturday John created our own personal pub crawl. We did dinner at Flo, drinks at Piano Bar, some foozball at Finnegan's Wake and then finished the night at Skinny Slim's with Jimmy & Lura. Sunday, John and I made them a big ole' breakfast and we headed to the movies to see Horrible Bosses (HILARIOUS). Before they left we grabbed Peking House for lunch (john's fav) and stopped by my parents to say goodbye.

Good Luck in Scotland, Erin. Can't wait for you to hear about your awesome trip! Meghan see you in September! j+k

*NOTE: Trina took all the pictures of our night out so I only have 2 from the weekend :(

Trina's Birthday Weekend

My best friend Trina celebrated another birthday a couple weeks ago and she invited us to join her on the end of her relaxing week vacay in Branson. We took in a wine tasting at Stone Hill (sparkling juice for me), had dinner at Cantina Laredo, had an awesome pool day and finished it off with shopping, dinner at the Hard Luck Diner and a movie. Happy Birthday Trina!
We started the night off with a Tasting at Stone Hill Winery

A little one on the way

It's official we are having a baby, we are relieved to finally be able to share our news. We have known since Week 4 and it has been the hardest secret we have ever kept. We are now in the middle of week 10, due February 26, 2012. We wanted to share a few of the pics so far from our ultrasounds and the little gifts our friends have already gotten our little Hamlet (our gender neutral nickname for our little nugget).
Thanks everyone for the heartfelt congraulation and advice, we love you all so very much and can't thank you enough. This is definitely a new and exciting adventure for us.
